From march 27 to march 30,  Carpenters Workshop Gallery will return to Design Show Shanghai, China’s biggest design fair, to present a selection of work by Sebastian Brajkovic, Humberto & Fernando Campana, Ingrid Donat, Stuart Haygarth and Studio Drift.

The aesthetic signature of Studio Drift, founded in 2006 by the Dutch duo Lonneke Gordijn & Ralph Nauta, is a subtle blend of advanced technology and nature, resulting in a constant questioning of the future.

The works of Brazilian brothers Fernando and Humberto Campana are born from the transformation of everyday objects. Their main source of inspiration is drawn from the culture of their country: the diversity of influences, social diversity, economy of means and various local crafts.

British designer Stuart Haygarth’s fascination with found objects is justified by his desire to offer them a new life. These mundane objects when in relation with light are transformed into precious chandeliers, furniture or installations, as shown in the work Tinted Optical Chandelier, which is made from spectacle lenses and exhibited here.

Dutch-born designer Sebastian Brajkovic questions notions of perspective and alteration of the form, creating a surrealist result, you can see here how his Lathe 1 explores the concept of negative space, using the 360 degrees around a traditional chair to find space for a bench.

ÀBOUT CARPENTERS WORKSHOP GALLERY

Carpenters Workshop Gallery transcends classical borders in terms of art and design. Its proposal stands just at the intersection of these two universes: reaching precisely a symbiosis of art and design.

Carpenters Workshop Gallery produces and exhibits functional sculptures by international rising and already established artists and designers going outside their traditional territories of expression. The gallery is actively involved in the research and production of the limited edition works exhibited. The choices are guided by the research of an emotional, artistic and historical relevance; a relevance that appears as an evidence.
