Flick through the catalogue of "Prête-moi ton rêve", the travelling, pan-African exhibition, currently in Abidjan
Due to the current pandemic, and for everyone's safety, the Musée des Cultures Contemporaines Adama Toungara d'Abobo which had been showing the exhibition "Prête-moi Ton Rêve" was forced to close on Wednesday 25 March 2020 indefinitely.
The exhibition "Prête-moi Ton Rêve" will reopen for one month as soon as it is safe to do so.
For the time being, you are invited to flick through the exhibition's online catalogue so you can enjoy the to enjoy the works exhibited by marvellous African artists.
After the exhibition’s launch in Casablanca in June 2019, and a second stage in Dakar in December 2019, the third leg of the exhibition “Prête-moi ton rêve” was inaugurated on 11 March 2020 at the Musée des Cultures Contemporaines Adama Toungara D’Abobo (MuCAT).
MuCAT's ambition, recently built in the heart of a popular area, is to make art accessible to everyone. Yacouba Konaté, the curator of “Prête-moi ton rêve”, said, "We feel that there is an effort being made to set up more functional organisations and we thought it would be important to participate in this programme by making our own contribution so that the people of Abobo learn to love their neighbourhood even more."
The idea of this exhibition that was conceived and subsequently executed by the Fondation pour le Développement de la Culture Contemporaine Africaine (FDCCA). “Prête-moi ton rêve” was to bring together over fifty works by nearly thirty African artists including Jane Alexander, Soly Cissé, Abdoulaye Konaté, Jems Koko Bi, William Kentridge, Chéri Samba, Barthélémy Toguo, Nnenna Okoré and Ouattara Watts.
The objective for "Prête-moi ton Rêve" was always clear from the beginning; African art, for Africa by Africans. We aim to attract and invite the local public to the exhibition, encourage exchanges and interactions between the artists, and we want to show the the vibrancy and livelieness of the African art scene in Africa while also providing a platform for local artists.
For Fihr Kettani, the general secretary of the FDCCA, "the travelling exhibition 'Prête-moi ton Rêve' wish to celebrate our universality by enriching it with our collective knowledge, talents, and successes, ocming from the four corners of our continent. The exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate African excellence in Africa and to help inspire its youth."
The exhibition "Prête-moi Ton Rêve" at the Musée des cultures contemporaines Adama Toungara d'Abobo, Abidjan will reopen for a month, one the museum reopens, before continuing onto its next stages around the continent.
