For its first Art Paris Art Fair, from 26 to 29 March 2015 at the Grand Palais in Paris, Carpenters Workshop Gallery’s booth will show bronze pieces by Atelier Van Lieshout.

Atelier Van Lieshout creates pieces that are manifestly functional for Carpenters Workshop Gallery: organically-shaped lamps that are both sensual and realistic, like The Caretaker and Kiss Lamp, or full of irony like Swing and Pappamamma Lamp Bronze. They also make tables as pretexts for the depiction of figurative scenes as illustrated by Gastronomy and Technocrat Bronze Coffee Table.

Carpenters Workshop Gallery started showing the work of Atelier Van Lieshout from the opening of its first space in London in 2006 and contributed to the production of the pieces on the booth.

Joep Van Lieshout set up Atelier Van Lieshout (AVL) in 1995 in a monumental building in the port of Rotterdam. Over the years, AVL acquired an international reputation producing work that blends sculpture, architecture and design.

In practice, the work of Joep Van Lieshout perfectly corresponds to the gallery’s art and design approach: an evolution toward functional sculpture.

AVL introduces a reflection on humans and our interdependence with our environment and its art: social ties, the idea of family, education, but also the environment and the impact of the industrial revolution on our lives.

ABOUT CARPENTERS WORKSHOP GALLERY

Carpenters Workshop Gallery transcends classical borders in terms of art and design. Its proposal stands just at the intersection of these two universes: reaching precisely a symbiosis of art and design.

Carpenters Workshop Gallery produces and exhibits functional sculptures by international rising and already established artists and designers going outside their traditional territories of expression. The gallery is actively involved in the research and production of the limited edition works exhibited. The choices are guided by the research of an emotional, artistic and historical relevance; a relevance that appears as an evidence.
