From October 21 to 24, at Fiac 2021, the Templon Gallery is exhibiting the latest works by Chiharu Shiota, Jim Dine and Kehinde Wiley, three major figures on the international contemporary scene.

Born in Osaka, Japan, in 1972, Chiharu Shiota has been living and working in Berlin since 1999. After a foundation degree in painting at Seika University in Kyoto, she turned to performance and pursued her artistic studies in Berlin. Chiharu Shiota is an internationally renowned artist whose work has been exhibited for twenty years. She represented Japan at the 2015 Venice Biennale. 

Kehinde Wiley was born in Born in 1977 in Los Angeles. He currently lives and works between New York, Beijing, and Dakar. The artist graduated from Yale University in 2001 and completed a residency at the Studio Museum in Harlem in 2002. In 2018 he became the first African-American artist to paint an official U.S. Presidential portrait for the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery. Former U.S. President Barack Obama selected the artist for this honour. Kehinde Wiley has also held solo exhibitions at institutions across the United States and Europe including: Brooklyn Museum, New York; Bozar Centre for Fine Arts, Brussels; Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Texas; the Petit Palais, Paris;Saint Louis Museum of Art, Missouri; and Seattle Art Museum, Washington. His works are included in the collections of numerous public institutions. 

 

Jim Dine lives and works in Montrouge, near Paris, Göttingen (Germany) and Walla Walla on the American west coast. Since his first exhibition in 1960, his work has appeared in almost 300 solo shows. It also features in over 70 public collections across the world, including at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Musée National d’Art Moderne - Centre Pompidou in Paris and Tate Collection in London. In 2018, the Musée National d’Art Moderne - Centre Pompidou held a major exhibition centring on his twenty-six-work donation. The exhibition travelled to the Centre Pompidou Malaga then the Multimedia Art Museum in Moscow. His work was also the subject of a major retrospective at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in 2020 and he has just exhibited a solo stand at Frieze Masters 2021.
