From 27.04 to 18.05, L'ahah presents a research and exhibition project bringing together curator and art critic Diane Der Markarian and artist Sophie Blet.

Sophie Blet's sculptures, images and installations shake up our perception, probing the confusion born of exploring the multiple dimensions of reality and the tenuousness of their boundaries. Her work in the visual arts is developed through a variety of media, maintaining and continuing regular dialogues with other researchers, in which our apprehension of the real shifts from perceived space to an uncertain, as yet undetermined space.

‘I'm tempted to guess that the artist's satisfaction is akin to that of the Zen master who, by setting traps for the public, incites them to a virtuous, even enlightening dizziness. (Jacques Perkins Martin, extract from the text written for the exhibition). The exhibition will also take the form of a publication produced in collaboration with Marius Astruc.

→ Diane Der Markarian is an independent art critic and curator, and a member of AICA-France. She is operational manager for the Micro-Folie scheme supported by the Ministry of Culture and coordinated by La Villette in Paris. A graduate of the University of Aix-Marseille, the École du Louvre and Sciences Po Paris, she spent two international study periods in Switzerland and Canada, and dedicated her dissertation to a monograph on the Israeli artist Michal Rovner (1957-). A member of the Jeunes Critiques d'Art collective from 2016 to 2021, she co-founded the association YACI - International Young Art Criticism in 2019. She has worked in various institutions in France and abroad (Fondation des Treilles, Musée d'art moderne et contemporain Saint-Étienne Métropole, Fondation Guido Molinari).

→ Sophie Blet lives and works in Marseille. After studying art history, she studied at the Beaux-arts de Monaco, MO (Pavillon Bosio, Master Art & Scénographie) and the Beaux-arts de Leipzig, DE (HGB, Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst - Master and Post-diploma). Her work has been shown in a number of group and solo exhibitions, including at the Musée d'Art Moderne et Contemporain de Saint Etienne Métropole (MAMC+), the Centre d'art de la Graineterie, Houilles, the Art-Cade gallery, Marseille, and the 22,48m2 gallery, Paris, for Art dans les chapelles, at the Observatoire de Nice, at Passage de Retz, Paris (Artagon), at Galerie Bipolar, Leipzig, at HGB Gallery, Leipzig, at Open-School Gallery, Beaux-arts de Nantes, at Fondation Vasarely, at Château de Servières, Marseille and soon at L'ahah, Paris. His first monograph, Pas tout à fait vides, peut-être juste impossibles, will be published as part of his exhibition at L'ahah.
