The ahah, a client of Communic'Art which is an association that accompanies and supports contemporary art and artists in Paris, is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of the great American photographer Jeffrey Silverthorne from 23 January to 27 March.

For his return to France, the immense Jeffrey Silverthorne will exhibit in the ahah’s two spaces, #Griset and #Moret, with an exhibition whose bittersweet title will remind those who already know the work of the American photographer of his terrible lucidity. With humour, always - whether he entices a tender smile or raises an embarrassed eyebrow...

For those new to the artist’s work, a member of L'ahah since its creation, "Pleasures, Sadness, Sometimes" will offer a journey through the different series and periods of Silverthorne’s work and, freeing itself from any chronology, will feature photographs dating from the 1970s to the present day, including his most recent, as yet unpublished, productions.

From these photographs in dialogue, which will certainly be amplified by viewers’ complicit glances, an incredible formal inventiveness will emerge along with an intellectual coherence that is never denied; that of a complexity in the image of existence - of pleasures, of sadness, of sometimes.

L'ahah

The ahah is a non-profit association, created in June 2017. It currently has three spaces in Paris and Ris-Orangis in the southern suburbs of the city, whose qualities will determine the format of the exhibitions scheduled from autumn 2018.

In order to increase the visibility of the artists it supports, L'ahah develops its own exhibitions, publications and editions.

In the course of five years of collaboration, the artists were offered two solo exhibitions in Paris with publishing and editing projects. In the time allotted, a self-managed exhibition space is made available to them.
