The Institut du monde arabe presents the exhibition "From the Alhambra to the Taj Mahal"
From 19 April to 25 September 2016, the Institut du Monde Arabe will be unveiling a spectacular exhibition dedicated to the Arab-Muslim garden.
The exhibition will fully invest in the interior spaces of the IMA, as well as expand through the vast esplanade with 2,000 square meters of outstanding ephemeral garden, especially designed by landscape gardener Michel Péna.
With a walk through history and a contemporary reinterpretation of the Eastern gardens, the exhibition will offer an unusual and sensorial circuit, from antiquity to recent innovations.
Artworks, scale models and historical documents will illustrate the classical Arab-Muslim garden and its evolutions. The tour will then continue in the contemporary garden where the visitor can discover the recomposed image of a masterful anamorphosis of vegetation - the star-shaped polygon - created by visual artist François Abélanet.
The art of gardening will be fully adressed in its cultural, scientific, aesthetic, graphic, technical, social, environmental and educational dimensions.
