"LES PLIS DE L'ÂME" (THE folds of the soul), SOLO SHOW, by ABDOULAYE KONATÉ, at GALERIE 38, CASABLANCA
Galerie 38, Casablanca, is pleased to present "Les Plis de l'Âme", a solo exhibition by artist Abdoulaye Konaté from Thursday, June 17 to Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Galerie 38, Casablanca.
For his second exhibition at Galerie 38, Abdoulaye Konaté presents a set of 11 monumental and unpublished works, all created during the confinement, especially for this exhibition event.
Abdoulaye Konaté, born in 1953 in Diré (Mali) is one of Africa’s greatest names in visual art. Working in tapestry, clothing, painting and sculpture, he uses fabric as his main creative material and draws his inspiration from African spirituality as well as from world events.
Founded in 2010, following the meeting of two art lovers, Mohammed Chaoui El Faiz and Fihr Kettani, Galerie 38 presents emerging and established artists, national and international, always with the objective of exploring artistic research and participating in the positive development of the contemporary and urban scene.
Since its inception, La Galerie 38 has specialized in national and international contemporary art. It represents more than ten renowned artists such as Abdoulaye Konaté, Amparo Sard, Fathiya Tahiri. Through the multitude of solo exhibitions that it organizes each year, La Galerie 38 supports and promotes the careers of contemporary artists.
In the continuity of its specialization in contemporary art, La Galerie 38 has decided for years to turn to one of its most fashionable trends, urban art. La Galerie 38 has thus opened up to the worldwide underground scene, to street art, to pop art, and represents artists who no longer need to be introduced such as Jef Aerosol, Alec Monopoly, Georges Moquay or Médéric Turay. With a strong emphasis on light and sincere emotion, La Galerie 38 is positioned today as a meeting place for the creation and dissemination of contemporary art and urban art for all audiences.
