Galerie Michel Rein (Paris/Brussels) is proud to announce that it now represents Edgar Sarin.

Edgar Sarin is a French visual artist, composer and man of letters who was born in Marseille in 1989.

He caught the eye of the public and art professionals right from the start thanks to his Concessions à Perpétuité, sealed artworks that their owner is forbidden to open whilst the artist is still alive.

In 2016, Edgar Sarin was awarded the Révélations EMERIGE 2016 prize, an event for which our gallery was a partner, and we were drawn to his free spirit and intuition for the visual aspect of objects. His work bears witness to a search for political and environmental harmony; his use of materials, ideas and presentation is accurate and to the point. He defends an approach that favours learning about the world and a reasoned form of creativity, one in which he develops a precise and profuse body of work across various disciplines and with different materials.

His work conveys such notions as instinct, balance and accidents, to which he refers as a “necessary justice”. Each of his exhibitions is like a sophisticated clockwork mechanism that he fine-tunes in order to create an intimate and opulent experience for the spectator.

In the first half of 2017, Edgar Sarin presented his work at two solo shows at the Collège des Bernardins (curated by Gaël Charbau) and Konrad Fischer Galerie (Düsseldorf / Berlin). He is currently preparing another solo show to be held at the Centre de Création Contemporaine Olivier Debré (CCCOD) in Tours in November 2017.

Edgar Sarin is also the director of the Cercle de La Horla, an exhibition-based think tank that he founded in 2015 and with which he organises group exhibitions in Paris and New York. He is the director of Le Geste Nécessaire magazine, whose impending launch is planned for this October during L’eau de vos yeux, douze architectures géniales, an exhibition that he is presenting in Paris with the Cercle de La Horla.

Galerie Michel Rein will exhibit a solo show of Edgar Sarin’s work in December 2017 / January 2018.
