THE ANNETTE GIACOMETTI’S PRIZE FOR THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS IN ART

The launch of the “Annette Giacommetti Prize for the intellectual Property Rights of ArtWorks and Artists” will be announced at the Global Congress Combatting Counterfeiting and Piracy, to be held on February 2nd 3rd, 2011 at the Cité des Sciences et de l’industrie, in Paris.

The Annette Giacometti Prize, to be awarded in May 2011,will reward an exhibition, work, article,website, university paper, documentary or any initiative promoting the rights of works and artists.

The Giacometti Foundation has entrusted Communic’Art with the press campaign of the Annette Giacometti Prize.

The jury will also award a €10,000 grant to assist in the production of an individual or group project, of any kind, helping to attract the public’s attention to the counterfeiting of works of art and the damage this causes, and/or forging a new image of the protection of the rights of authors of works of art. A project grant application will be introduced on February 2nd, 2011.

Chaired by Véronique Wiesinger, director of the Alberto and Annette Giacometti Foundation, the jury will be composed by six members-lawyer, economist, artis’s beneficiary, collector, artist…

Created in 2003, the goal of the Giacometti Foundation is to protect Alberto Giacometti’s œuvre and encourage its dissemination and influence. It undertakes actions aimed at highlighting and protecting Alberto Giacometti’s œuvre, and works actively to prevent the traffic in fake and counterfeit works of art.
