13-22 March 2015, for this year’s participation in TEFAF Maastricht, Galerie Boulakia is presenting an outstanding ensemble of six masterpieces by Marc Chagall held in an alcove in the middle of the booth.

Within iconic artists such as Pierre Alechinsky, Karel Appel, Jean Michel Basquiat, Alexander Calder, Fernand Léger and Andy Warhol that have each contributed to the world-renowned of the Galerie, are displayed.

In parallel with the important Marc Chagall retrospective held at the Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts in Belgium until June 2015, Galerie Boulakia will present an ensemble of six oeuvres by the painter of Russian origin.

To discover the universe of the artist visitors will be invited to enter into an edifice situated at the centre of the booth.

Like a precious case, the cabinet presents specific Chagall compositions that have absorbed a certain idea of “douceur de vivre” (sweetness of life), as illustrated in Les mariés dans le ciel de Paris (The bridegrooms in the sky of Paris).

In parallel, Galerie Boulakia Paris introduces a dialogue between a dozen of the biggest names in modern and contemporary art. Among masterpieces by the most influential artists such as Fernand Léger, Karel Appel and Pierre Alechinsky we can see those of Jean Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol.

An exigent selection of historic artists has been brought together specially at the Maastricht Exhibition Congress Center in TEFAF, International fair of art and design.

ABOUT GALERIE BOULAKIA

Accustomed to all areas of art from an early age, Fabien Boulakia opened up his own gallery in 1971, on rue Bonaparte, in Paris.

Since its opening, the gallery has displayed the eclectic taste of its owner, mixing Masters and young talented artists.

The Boulakia Gallery expressed a great interest in the CoBRa artists (Karel Appel, Corneille, Asger Jorn) and offered strong support towards their cause, against the predominance of Abstract art in the seventies. Between 1980 and 1990, the Gallery hosted historical exhibitions: Rauschenberg in 1989, Jean Michel Basquiat in 1990 and Karl Lagerfeld in 1995.

Established on avenue Matignon since 2002 (8th Arrondissement), the gallery continues to mix classic and contemporary artists: Raoul Dufy in 2002, Marc Chagall in 2003, Jean Dubuffet in 2007, Voyage au bout du tracé: 40 drawings by Picasso in 2011, and more recently, in 2014, the Brazilian artist Goncalo Ivo.

The gallery is a great support to these artists not only in France, but also abroad, and attends the largest and most prestigious art fairs in the world such as TEFAF Maastricht, Masterpiece in London, The Salon in New York and the Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris.
