L’Événement 25 - Les chemins du vivant : ten days of cultural buzz organised across the entire Montpellier-Sète territory by the association Montpellier 2028.
For two years, the association M28 - Terres de culture worked on the bid by Montpellier-Sète and their partners for the title of European Capital of Culture 2028, building strong and lasting ties with local stakeholders along the way. Building on this momentum, the association continues its work by organising a cultural event across the entire territory in 2025: "L'événement 25 - Les chemins du vivant" (The Paths of the Living).
Viewing culture as a transformative force for the territory, M28 and its partners are more united than ever around culture, reaffirming their commitment alongside artists and cultural stakeholders and their determination to make M28 a territory of hospitality.
"L'événement 25 – Les chemins du vivant" is the first demonstration of M28's ability to build a shared territory through cooperation, starting from culture. For several months now, the M28 association and all of its partners have been walking the Chemins du vivant. Every day brings fresh evidence of this territory's cultural richness, and of the involvement of elected officials, stakeholders and residents in devising new ways of designing projects and building or strengthening the ties that unite us.
From the areas around Agde to the shores of Grau-du-Roi, from the karst landscapes of the Cévennes to the neighbourhoods of Montpellier, dozens of cultural teams, artists, as well as researchers, healthcare workers and tourism professionals are imagining, designing and carrying out this wonderful collective project.
Starting from a map featuring 7 cardinal points located in each of the partner local authorities, the artists and cultural stakeholders connected to M28 are engaging in artistic approaches that prioritise encounter and participation by residents and, more broadly, by living things, as well as research and co-writing with scientists or stakeholders from non-cultural sectors, in connection with specialists in inclusion, social affairs, health or education. The public is thus invited to link these 7 cardinal points by making various stops along a path that already includes more than sixty venues.
