Marc Chagall, Juif à la Thora, 1968-1976

At the Salon: Art + Design in New York, November 13-17, 2014, the prestigious Galerie Boulakia, is showing the great names of art history, creating a dialogue between masters of painting and sculpture: Bonnard, Dubuffet, Ernst, Léger, Picasso but also Chagall, Laurens and Wahrol.

These rare masterpieces will hold the attention of the most refined visitors, such as Le Juif à la Thora by Marc Chagall. The religious motif detached from a purely architectural context and moving freely within the picture's visual space, represents for the artist both a refuge of tradition, reflection and inner peace in turbulent times as well as spiritual values.

Also, Joan Mitchell's diptych, emblematic of her abstract and expressionist work, a mastery of color inseparable from the movement of light and paint.

All these masterpieces will be shown together for this international and renowned art fair which gathers together the most famous art and design galleries at the Park Avenue Armory, renowned cultural and  historical landmark in New York.

ABOUT GALERIE BOULAKIA

Founded in 1971, on rue Bonaparte in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris, Galerie Boulakia presents the great names of art, from Impressionists to Basquiat. It has a fidelity to modern art but also with a deep commitment and support to contemporary unknown artists  such as Alechinsky, Jorn, Appel or Sam Francis were when Fabien Boulakia first exhibited their works.

An ex-agricultural engineer with a PHD in biochemistry, Fabien Boulakia went into the art market at the end of the 50s with energy of a passionate man but also the calculated assessment of a scientist.

Based for 15 years in the golden triangle of Paris, Avenue Matignon, the Galerie Boulakia is now headed by himself and his two sons, natural heirs of their father’s enthusiasm.
