art contemporain-medium verre-strasbourg venise

l’International Strasbourg Glass Prize

Schimansky’s exhibition prolonged until 09/25

The exhibition of Hanns Schimansky's recent drawings is prolonged, in the gallery Jaeger Bucher, until September 25th

Initially planned until July 17th, 2010, the Hanns Schimansky’s exhibition La Ligne Claire, in the gallery Jaeger Bucher, has been prolonged until Sept. 25th, 2010.

Since May 29th, the German artist Hanns Schimansky is showing 40 drawings made between 2007 and 2010.

These drawings, written as much as drawn, attempt to capture and to prolong the present moment, to mirror the rythm of the universe. Using and provoking the idea of chance, he metaphorically slows the headlong speed at which we live in today’s world, dominated as it is by the media. Geometric shapes and intercrossing, looping lines, accentuated by the folds in the paper he uses, from Schymansky’s unmistakeable energetic graphic style.

Hanns Schimansky was born in 1949 in East Germany. Trained as an agronomist engineer, he decided in 1979 to devote his career to art and more particularly to drawing.

The gallery Jaeger Bucher entrusted Communic’art with the media campaign.  The gallery is opened from Tuesday to Saturday from 2 pm till 7 pm untill July 17th, and by appointment from July 20th to 24th. Elle ouvrira à nouveau dès le 1er septembre 2010.

Born in 1977 in Russia, the microbiologist-turned-photographer works with simple forms of points and lines on a plane, complicating these seemingly simple forms with carefully chosen titles that invoke deeper semantic questions and complicate the space between the verbal and the visual.
