Rui Moreira exhibits at gallery Jaeger Bucher

Openning of the first ehibition in France of the portuguese artist Rui Moreira on Saturday, March 20th at galerie Jaeger Bucher

The first exhibition in France of the portuguese artist Rui Moreira held from the 20 March to 22th May and presents twenty or so works on paper, figurative and abstract. At this occasion, the galerie Jaeger Bucher entrusted Communic’Art with the media campaign.

Born 1971, works exclusively on paper, his chosen medium for translating physical and mental experiences.

Called Inner Monsoon, the exhibition presents a series of ‘inner landscapes’, three groups of works on paper, figurative and abstract, with a unity of flow and movement. The pieces alternately evoke divinities, landscapes and geometric constructions. Each is worked painstakingly, patiently, the lines being repeated endlessly, like a ritually enacted mnemonic exercise.

The works are characterised by their lack of visual borderline so the spectator is able to view the work from within. They have neither chronology nor linear spatialisation. Arising from travels in Morocco and India, inner voyages and outer rhizomes form landscapes that translate the inner displacement whether spatial, temporal, physical or mental.

Each image has grown out of a multiplicity of influences (a film sequence, a poem, a piece of music, a journey, a photograph or other work) and seeks no specific synthesis or definitive result other than superimposing various states of flux amont the different works.

The exhibition will showcase twenty or so works on paper and a film entitled Conquering the Concave about the monumental dome painted by Rui Moreira in a church in the Algarve, Portugal. A bilingual French/English catalogue introduced by the Portuguese art critic Manuel Castro Caldas, will be published for the exhibition.

1 closing, 2 openings at galerie Jaeger Bucher

13/03 : closing of the exhibition of Paul Wallach - 20/03 : opening of the exhibition of Rui Moreira - 29/05 : opening of the exhibition of Hanns Schimansky

WallachOne more week to go see the balanced sculptures created by American artist Paul Wallach! The closing will take place on Saturday, March 13th with a reading by Nicolas Pesquès and the signature of two books about the artist’s work.

Falling Up, the first major exhibition in Paris of Paul Wallach, gathers twenty recent works.

The Frankfurter Allgemeine describes them as “formal utopias (…) extremely subtle, designed and hung off the wall so that their static remains incomprehensible” in an article entitled “To Play with What our Mind Perceives,” published January 16th, 2010.

RuiFrom Marth 20th until May 22nd 2010, the gallery will present Inner Monsoon, the first exhibition in France by Portuguese artist Rui Moreira.

The artist’s work is based on a series of “interior landscapes” assembled in three groups of drawings,
figurative and abstract, creating a system of fluxus and movement. These drawings evoke divinities, landscapes or geometric constructions; each work is carried out with extreme patience and meticulousness as a mnemonic exercise based on a ritual, repeated endlessly.

The exhibition will gather twenty drawings and a film, Conquer the Concave, based on the monumental dome that the artist painted in a church in the region of Algarve in Portugal.

SchimanskyFrom May 29th until July 17th 2010, German artist Hanns Schimansky will exhibit his scriptured drawings in which he captures and extends the intensity of the elusive moment in order to live the rhythm of the world. By inviting and provoking randomness, the artist stands in the wat of the staggering speed of our world eaten up by the media.

The geometric forms or the intertwined lines, accented by folding paper, create an energy writing specific to  Schimansky. Landscapes and cities emerge to make us travel.

Hanns Schimansky has exhibited widely in Europe, particularly in Germany and has had several major solo exhibitions at the Gemeentemuseum at the Hague, at the Kunsthalle Karlsruhe Staatcliche or the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire of Neuchâtel in Switzerland.
