A catalogue Lozek for Daniel Templon

Galerie Daniel Templon has entrusted Communic'Art with the creation of German artist Jörg Lozek's first monograph

The new figure of the effervescent “Leipzig school”, Jörg Lozek, exhibits for the first time in France at Galerie Daniel Templon. For this occasion, the gallery has entrusted Communic’Art with the creation of a catalogue.

LozekWith Im Zimmer (In the bedroom), Jörg Lozek presents a series of large interior paintings in between construction and deconstruction.

Taking as a starting point archive photographs from the First World War, he composes ambiguous rooms where heterogeneous furniture and objects accumulate.

Accesories, details, tapestries and floors are depicted with a complex combination of oil painting and drawing, resulting in paintings which are in between sketch, architectural study and baroque fresco.

Jörg Lozek sets up in his “rooms” a recurring solitary character, with hidden features, both childish and grown-up’s.

As the artist explains “he must accomplish simple acts that do not bring-up additional questions. His attention is focused inward. He is totally self-centered”. His attitudes determine the paintings’ titles : Waiting (Warten), Search (Forschung).

“Jörg Lozek’s pictures meet our desire for painting in a manner that is full of curiosity, subversive and reflective. His paintings bear witness to the quest for creating an identity, for disorder and non-places, of garrets and rooms evoking memory,” writes Oliver Kornhoff in the catalogue.

Born in 1971 in ex GDR and a student of Neo Rausch, Jörg Lozek belongs with his friends David Schnell, Tim Eitel or Mattthias Weischer to the new Leipzig art scene which emerged in the early year 2000.

Often interested by history, architecture and the reconsideration of the socialist esthetics, these artists have operated a spectacular return to figurative painting.

This first monography offers an intimate view on Jörg Lozek’s works and allows to discover his meticulous and detailed paintings.

This catalogue is distributed by le Comptoir des Indépendants in 300 bookstores in France, including 50 specialized
with an Art section.

The catalogue will be listed in over forty (40) professional databases and online bookstores, including Fnac, Amazon and Dilicom.

A catalogue Gallo for galerie Di Meo

Symphonia in three movements, the catalogue created by Communic'Art for Giuseppe Gallo's exhibition at Galerie Di Meo

Di Meo gallery, has entrusted Communic’art with the creation of a catalogue. Gallo belongs to the “New Roman School” movement, which included other great artists such as Pizzi Cannella, Tirelli and Dessi. This is his third exhibition at Galerie Di Meo.

GalloMusic and composers have inspired Gallo : Mozart, Rossini, Beiro, Schönberg, Riley are poetically and symbolicaly represented in his work.

Despite the very large size of some of his paintings, the majority form an “intimate vignette” of each of these great musicians.

Art critic Nicolas d’Estienne d’Orves writes for the catalogue’s introduction : “Doesn’t the perpetual balance between pleasure and theory summarize Giuseppes Gallo’s work? An art that speaks without imposing itself, that denies neither the pleasure nor the inmediate seduction, and by doing so touches the heart? In other words, another definition of music.”

The catalogue presents in a small and elegant format an intimate view of the richness of the texture of the paintings. Pictures of the artist in his studio allow the reader to penetrate his universe.

Giuseppe Gallo, born in 1954, lives and works in Rome. Since 1975, his works have successively been exhibited in
museums and galleries throughout Europe and the United States. He also participated in the 1990 edition of the Venice Biennale.

This catalogue is distributed by le Comptoir des Indépendants in 300 bookstores in France, including 50 specialized
with an Art section.

The catalogue will be listed in over forty (40) professional databases and online bookstores, including Fnac, Amazon and Dilicom.

Exhibition Echo Wanted at galerie Karsten Greve

The media campaign for the group exhibition organized by Judith Greve on the theme of the environment

Karsten Greve Gallery presents EChO wanted, a group exhibition organized by Judith Greve on the theme of the environment, that will take place from May 17th to July 12th, 2008.

This exhibition was born of an intimate preoccupation and a will to react to the themes of pollution and the degradation of our environment, but also of a desire to reveal the work of a certain number of artists who will be exhibiting for the first time in France and at the Karsten Greve Gallery. The exhibition presents the works of ten artists: Adam Broomberg & Oliver Chanarin, Lynn Davis, Bright Ugochukwu Eke, Dustin Lynn, Claire Morgan, Paulo Paes, Sergio Vega, Roberto de Villacis & united alien artists.

International concern for the problems linked to the environment has grown considerably. And, as with all major
changes throughout history, art forms have evolved accordingly. Artists seize hold of these questions and illustrate
the new relationships society has with nature. Ever-changing artistic scenes develop and strive to stimulate our collective
consciousness.
“The idea behind the exhibition is to shake up the consciousness a little. I hope to inspire the public by, if not providing
ideas, at least showing some directions that can be taken through these socially engaged works of art-showing something
of what is going on around us” explains Judith Greve.
Karsten Greve Gallery gets involved by inviting ten artists from very different backgrounds, to come show their work
in Paris. This exhibition will also serve as a platform for international organizations like Global Ocean, Adventure
Ecology, Orphan Aid Africa and will then travel to Karsten Greve Galleries in Germany and Switzerland.
The exhibition presents works in a broad range of mediums, from photography and drawing to sculpture and video.
It will also include works specifically conceived for the exhibition that are relevant to the theme.

Until July 12, from Tuesday to Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm. Galerie Karsten Greve – 5, rue Debelleyme 75003 Paris – Tél. : 01 42 77 19 37
